Measures have been taken to cancel the registration of all vehicles where the revenue license has not been renewed for over three years, according to the Motor Traffic Commissioner General Jagath Chandrasiri.
Currently the number of registered motor vehicle are around 7,727,921, but only around 4 million of them obtain their annual revenue license. Therefore, he said that all vehicles that have not obtained the revenue license for over three years would be picked out and the registration of these vehicles would be cancelled.
He said once the registrations are cancelled, these vehicles would not be permitted on the roads.
Therefore, he noted that the process is already in progress and those who have not obtained their revenue license for three years or more should immediately do so, or risk having their registration cancelled.
