The parties, including the National Freedom Front, Democratic Left Front, Lanka Sama Samaja Party, TMVP and Mahajana Eksath
Peramuna, are due to enter into an alliance with the SLPP within the next two weeks.
Discussions are presently underway to determine the quotas for each party at the election, the sources add.
UNF quotas this weekend
Meanwhile, the United National Front says it will announce by this weekend the quotas for its constituent parties that will contest the polls under the ‘elephant’ symbol.
A spokesman for Sirikotha said the candidate lists have already been finalized and would be submitted for approval.
