The basis for legal action will be the final report of the presidential commission inquiring into the matter.
Chairman of the commission K.T. Chitrasiri said they have already
substantiated the information sought, and the recording of evidence would be concluded after summoning two more witnesses.
He was responding to a request by senior solicitor general Dappula de Livera to summon 20 more persons to obtain evidence.
Another extension for the commission?
Meanwhile, several civil society organizations are planning to ask president Maithripala Sirisena to extend the term of the commission by three months.
They will cite the revelation of additional details which need to be investigated and the time needed to finalize the final report of the commission.
Appointed last February, the commission received two extensions of three months each, and the second extension expires on October 27.
