Indian Poosari and match defeats

Sri Lankan players believe they had been defeated in the cricket series against India due to the work of a Poosari who had accompanied the visiting team, Sri Lanka Cricket sources say.

He served as a baggage boy or throw boy to the Indian team, and
whenever a match was underway he was seen muttering and throwing sand into the ground.

He regularly wore a red dot on his forehead.

Sri Lankan selectors had informed Sri Lanka Cricket about him.

During a game in Galle, a spectator threw sand at him and he ran into the pavilion like a madman, reports say.

Critics say the Sri Lankan defeat cannot be blamed on the work of Poosaris, and that it was due the weaknesses of the Sri Lankan players.

They say Sri Lanka will be unable to win the upcoming series against Pakistan too.
