Their theory is that during the election it was not the SLFP that received the people’s mandate but the United National Front. Hence
with the majority of 106 seats in parliament the UNF can set up their own government, they said.
It is also these seniors view that if the UNF sets up their own government it would be much easier to carry on an efficient and productive government.
They have also pointed out to the Prime Minister that since several Ministers of the previous government is still a part of the current government, even though they are facing allegations of corruption while in the previous regime, it makes it difficult to implement the law against them.
