Shiranthi, Yoshitha ordered to appear before CID on Aug. 15


The CID has sent notice to former first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and her second son Yoshitha to appear before it on August 15 in connection with the Wasim Thajudeen murder investigation.

They are to be questioned over a Defender jeep given by the Red Cross to Shiranthi’s Siriliya organization.

Both had failed to be present before the CID as asked previously.

A top CID official said that if they failed to appear on August 15 too, a court order would be obtained
as per clause 129 (6) of the penal code.

The Red Cross has informed the CID that the Defender bearing no. (WP) KA-0642 had been given to ‘Siriliya’ organization from August 2011 to 20 January 2015.

It has said that it was not aware of the purpose for which the organization had use the vehicle, and gave all information it has with regard to the changing of its colour.

The CID has found that Wasim had been kidnapped in a Defender jeep and murdered, according to media reports.

The Defender is presently in the CID custody.
