Indigenous community chief warns of deforestation consequences

Leader of the indigenous community Uru Warige Wannila Aththo says if deforestation continues to take place in Sri Lanka, the loss of life in the country would be far greater than those who died of COVID-19 in the United States and China.

He slammed the authorities for only arresting those who transport the timber rather than enforcing the law against those who contracted the felling of trees.

” The Government must arrest everyone involved and not just stop with a single arrest,” he urged.
