Can accept challenge of leading UNP - Karu

Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya says that he can accept the challenge of leading the United National Party for the betterment of the party and Sri Lanka.

Releasing a statement, Jayasuriya said that he will firmly and unwaveringly commit himself to all the duties and responsibilities that he have to fulfill.


“Given the current state of confusion, I have carefully considered the requests made to me by many parties,” he said.

“I informed the present party leadership as well as the party seniors that I can accept the challenge of leading the UNP,” he adds.
