He said this during the maiden election rally of the New Democratic Front at the Galle Face Green yesterday.
He commenced his address by apologizing to the clergy and the people for previously referring to his mouth as sacred.
He told the large gathering present that the country does not need leaders who front family rule and militarisation.
Premadasa also assured that there would be no room for corruption or fraud within his government. He promised the people an extra relief package in addition to the Samurdhi.
Expressing his views regarding the drug menace in the country, Premadasa said he would hand over the talk of combatting this drug menace to Sarath Fonseka.
Meanwhile, in a Face Book posting, Sajith’s Propaganda Secretary prior to receiving nomination from his party, Ajith P. Perera had stated that the maiden rally proved to be the biggest rally in the history of the country.
