Kanjipani Imran appeals for reduced jail term

Organized crime leader, Mohammed Najeem Mohammed Imran alias ‘Kanjipani Imran’ has filed an appeal requesting that his six-year term of imprisonment for possession and trafficking of ganja be reduced.

The appeal has been submitted to the Colombo High court by attorney-at-law Lakshman Perera to be filed before the appeal court.

In the appeal, the suspect said the Colombo high court sentenced him to six years in prison with hard labour after he pleaded guilty for possessing and trafficking 5.3 kilogrammes of cannabis.

While pointing out that the jail term imposed on him was too severe, through his appeal Kanjipani Imran requested the court to issue a reduced sentence.
