The investigations are being carried out under the directives of a DIG, according to the Police Media Division.
The Police Headquarters said that once the investigation report is received, if it indicate that the police officers concerned had done some mistake, stern disciplinary action would be taken against them.
Magalkande Suantha Thera had lodged the complaint regarding the close ties of the police officers with the suspect at the Police Headquarters.
The cake for the celebration had been brought by Kanjipani’s father and it is believed that two Sub-Inspectors attached to the CCD had been involved in allowing Kanjipani to have his birthday celebration at the CCD, Sudantha
