Ranil requests Mahinda not to resign !

As there are several elections scheduled in the near future, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had requested the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya yesterday (09) not to resign.

This request had been made during a discussion held at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Parliament Complex yesterday.

The Prime Minister had also notified the Elections Commissioner to prepare for the upcoming elections.

Mahinda Deshapriya had earlier vowed to resign from his post in the event the elections were not held on schedule.

Therefore, the Prime Minister had told the Elections Commissioner that his services was vital as the elections were round the corner and appealed to him not to take the decision to resign at this crucial juncture.
