It is said that certain underworld gangs from Colombo and the South are forging close ties with politicians to fulfil their intentions.
Currently, several underworld gangs in the South have already commenced their operation to activate
the propaganda mechanism in villages promoting their candidates, the CID has received information.

The units have also received information that several prominent underworld gang members wanted in connection with serious crimes, are being employed at the office of a prominent Minister in Gampaha.
