People’s Alliance to make comeback?

The SLFP is considering contesting the upcoming elections on the ‘chair’ symbol of the People’s Alliance, together with leftist parties and other groups, according to ‘Sathhanda.’

Ex-president Chandrika Kumaratunga has chaired several meetings in this regard.

Also, Mahinda Amaraweera, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Vijithamuni
Soyza, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Athauda Seneviratne and others held talks at the BMICH last week, say SLFP sources.

They decided to contest under the PA and to eject racist and religious extremist elements in the UPFA.

Conditional approval

Senior electoral organizers who previously wanted to contest on the SLFP’s ‘hand’s symbol, have given conditional approval, stressing that the corrupt and the extremists should be removed.
