Dayasiri rules out interim committee for cricket

An interim committee cannot find solutions to problems facing Sri Lanka’s cricket and the only way out is through negotiations, says sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara.

He has told ‘Divaina’ that he held an election to appoint an administration not to pave the way for interim committees.

Recent debacles on home soil against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and
India, Sri Lanka is risking its qualification for the World Cup in 2019.

Jayasekara said all the stakeholders have been invited for a special discussion on uplifting the local game at Water’s Edge at Battaramulla on September 15.

It will be attended by present officials, former captains, past board and interim committee members, sports editors and other veterans in the field.
