UNP’s decision on Wijedasa on Aug. 17

The UNP will decide, on August 17 at its working committee meeting, whether to bring in a no-confidence motion against justice and Buddha Sasana minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe, says party MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha.

He says his group has to take a decision relating to the no-
confidence motion in consultation with the party seniors only.

Backs Wijedasa, opposes Faizer

Meanwhile, UPFA MP Ranjith Soyza says they will oppose the no-confidence motion against Rajapakshe, but support the one that is said to be moved against minister Faizer Mustafa.

Soyza says they will back minister Rajapakshe, a strong critic of ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa who had left the government over policy matters.

The no-confidence motion against him is over his policy against selling state property, for which we respect him, says the UPFA MP.

But, we are against minister Mustafa, and if a no-confidence motion is moved against him by the government, we will support it, he said.

Country is more important than govt.

Meanwhile, minister Rajapakshe says the country is more important to him than the government.
