Surge in daily electricity consumption; Public urged to use electricity sparingly.

With the current dry weather, the daily electricity demand has increased by between 3 and 4 gigawatt hours.

spokesperson of Ceylon Electricity Board, Noel Priyantha says that hydropower generation has dropped to 21 percent these days. 

Currently, the water capacity of hydroelectric power plants is 83 percent.

    

An electricity capacity of 4.5 percent is generated from solar power.

Electricity capacity generated from wind farms, stand at 5 percent.

Therefore, spokesperson of Ceylon Electricity Board informs the people to use electricity sparingly.
