CWC23: Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in warm-up

Bangladesh secured a resounding seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their first warm-up match of the ICC ODI World Cup, marking a triumphant beginning to their campaign.

The clash unfolded at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, with Bangladesh successfully chasing down the target of 264 runs in just 42 overs.
In pursuit of the target, Bangladesh showcased a dominant batting display. Tanzid Hasan exhibited his prowess with the bat, accumulating 84 runs off 88 deliveries, featuring 10 boundaries and two sixes.

Litton Das, on the other hand, showcased his batting finesse by striking 10 fours during his brisk innings of 61 off 56 balls.

The opening pair of Hasan and Das formed a formidable partnership, amassing 131 runs for the first wicket, setting the tone for Bangladesh’s successful run chase. Mushfiqur Rahim also played a steady innings, finishing unbeaten with 35 runs.

In the first innings, Sri Lanka, having opted to bat, posted a total of 263 runs before being bowled out in 49.1 overs. Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya de Silva were the primary contributors for Sri Lanka, both scoring half-centuries.

Nissanka, in particular, formed a substantial opening partnership with Kusal Perera, adding 104 runs for the first wicket. Despite Nissanka’s impressive 68 off 64 balls and de Silva’s composed 55 off 79 deliveries, Sri Lanka’s middle-order failed to capitalize on the promising start.

Bangladesh will play their next warm-up game against England on Monday while Sri Lanka will meet Afghanistan on Tuesday.
