Special commodity levy slashed for maize imported for “Thriposha” production

The government has slashed the special commodity levy imposed on maize imported for the manufacturing of “Thriposha” by the Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited.

According to the Finance Ministry, the special commodity levy of Rs. 75 per kilogram previously stipulated on imported maize was thus reduced to Rs. 25 per kilogram.
 
The tax concession has been made effective from May 18.

In the meantime, the Finance Ministry has removed the tax concession given for the import of dates with effect from May 18.
