Lotus Tower visitors top 500,000 mark

Lotus Tower Management Company Chief Executive Officer Major General (Retd) Prasad Samarasinghe yesterday said that the number of people who visited the Lotus Tower since its opening for the public from September 15 last year reached 500,000 mark yesterday noon.Samarasinghe said that 4,080 foreigners have also visited the Lotus Tower.

Samarasinghe said that those visiting the Lotus Tower will have more things to do rather than just going up and enjoying the panoramic view of Colombo city.

“We have signed a number of agreements with several partners to have more recreational activities, that the visitors can be engaged in and preliminary activities will begin from March,” he added.

Samarasinghe when asked as to why long queues are seen opposite the Lotus Tower, he said only 150 persons are allowed to go up to the Lotus Tower at a given time and they can spend 30 minutes at the top. “This has caused a long line of people queuing up to have their chance,” he said.

He said that visitors can also experience famous restaurants and souvenir shops and many more facilities including restaurants will be introduced to the public in the future.
