Ranil, Mahinda unite to fight Coronavirus

Former Prime Minister and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has made a request from India to provide the required face masks to provide protection to the public from the Coronavirus, it is reported.

He had made this request from India as there are many Indian companies which produce face masks and as India is the closest country to Sri Lanka.

Ranil Wickremesinghe had also notified the current Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa regarding his request to India.

Wickremesinghe had notified Rajapaksa that he would support the government in all their efforts to counter the Coronavirus epidemic.

He had instructed UNP-MP Dr. Kavinda Jayawardena to mediate and assist the government in obtaining these face masks from India after Jayawardena had notified his party leader regarding the Indian companies manufacturing face masks.

Wickremesinghe had also requested the government to conduct awareness programmes to educate the people regarding this virus as there is panic among the public regarding this epidemic.
