Expands opportunities for loans granted to graduate from a private university

Opportunities to enrol into the interest free student loan scheme granted for students to pursue degree courses at non-state higher education institutes are to be expanded.
The loan scheme is currently in operation; however, the targeted number of students have not been attracted.

The reasons for the lack of enthusiasm on the part of the students can be attributed to the lack of demand in the job market for the courses.

The loan scheme sponsors, and the insufficient contribution of these courses towards economic development.

The Ministry of Higher Education hopes to re-organize the loan scheme.

Thereby, under the ‘Vision of Prosperity’, this loan scheme will be expanded to bring about 10,000 graduates in the fields of information and communication technology, where there is a high demand for jobs.
