The Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, said that the government would give children of income taxpayers an opportunity to enroll in national schools to encourage the citizens to pay income tax.
The Minister said that they will seek the assistance of the Inland Revenue Department in setting the criteria for admission of these children to national schools.
Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that he had recently discussed the matter with the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue and a group of officials.
