This decision was taken by the select committee which met last afternoon.
Accordingly, Parliament select committee probing the Easter Sunday carnage yesterday decided not to permit media to cover some of its sessions that would be attended by witnesses who are on active service and the level of their proximity in access to information pertaining to the national security, Chairman of the Parliamentary select committee probing the Easter Sunday carnage and Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarsiri said yesterday.
He said the PSC met yesterday made that decision after reviewing its progress of the past sittings.
In addition the PSC would hereafter not announce the names of ranks of some servicemen to be summoned before it and the dates of they would be summoned for testifying would not be made public.
During yesterday’s meeting it was decided to complete the investigations by the committee by the end of July.
Further, a list of names of the witnesses to be called before the commission has also been made.
However, Kumarasiri said that several representatives of Muslim organisations are scheduled to testify before the commission and Abdul Razak f the All Ceylon Thawheed Jamath is also among them.
