Harin entrusts cricket team security to police!

Sports Minister Harin Fernando said that two Sri Lanka police officers would accompany the Sri Lankan team to the UK on May 07th.

He said since the Sri Lankan team will engaged in practice sessions in the UK for around three weeks, the two senior police officers would coordinate the security arrangements for them.


The Minister said this during a special media briefing regarding the issues faced by the sports clubs and the future of sports.

He said this measure was taken to tighten security for the players taking into account the current situation in the country.

Minister Fernando noted that sports is an ideal platform to foster unity and it would be used to promote reconciliation within the country.

Based on the advice of the security forces, he said maximum security would be deployed for future sports events.
