Another issue for the Constitutional Council

Allegations have been levelled that the Constitutional Council which was established under the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, has flouted paragraph 41(G) of that amendment.

According to that paragraph, a progress review report should be given to the President every three months.
However, so far no progress review report has been handed over to the President.

When asked yesterday if the President had forwarded such a progress review report to his secretary he said he had not received such a report.

On February 06th the President notified parliament that 12 names of judges had been rejected by the Constitutional Council without any reasons given.

However, two other names presented to the Constitutional Council by the President had also been rejected creating a clash between the Constitutional Council and the President.
