This was due to a case of violating his bail conditions as he had attempted to travel abroad while he had a travel ban imposed on him.
The travel ban had been imposed by the Puttalam High Court over
an ongoing case for the murder of a person in 2010. On 16th January 2010, a person was shot dead in Madurankulama area in Puttalam.
However, Chairman Sandaruwan was arrested while attempting to travel neglecting the court order, on the 10th of September.
