Maithri is to have a six year term?

President Maithripala Sirisena has asked the Supreme Court to inform him on or before January 14, if there is any constitutional impediment for him to continue in the position of president for a period of six years from 09 January 2015.

Secretary to the SC M.M. Jayasekara, as instructed by the chief
justice, notified the Bar Association in writing yesterday (08) about the president’s request.

Her letter also said the matter would be listed in the SC at 11.00 am on January 11.
