Changes at LG polls

The Election Commission plans changes to the postal vote results announcement and observing processes at the upcoming local government polls.

Its chairman Mahinda Deshapriya says there will be no foreign
observers at the election.

Only the commission-recognized local observers are able to visit the polling booths, he says.

Also, postal votes will be counted separately, but will not be announced separately, with those results added to the final result for each LG body for announcement.
