The strike was launched in protest of the decision taken by the Cabinet appointed committee which was appointed on December 12 to resolve the issues that led to the previous railway strike.
According to the Secretary of the Railway Union Front Sampath
Rajitha, they were against the decision taken to halt all promotions and recruitment until the issues were solved by the appointed committee.
However, according to the Engine Drivers Association, railway services will function as usual from today.
