Emergency cabinet meeting to approve H’tota port handover

As the signing of agreement to lease out Hambantota port to a Chinese company is due to take place on December 09, an emergency cabinet meeting has been summoned on the 07th.

The meeting is expected to approve regulations in the strategic act
for the port handover, after which they will be presented to parliament on the same day.

Party leaders have decided to hold, if necessary, a debate on the matter on December 08, from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
