Kick in the gut for transferred teachers!

Teachers who had served in a certain school for over ten years were transferred recently, but many of them complain that they have not received last month’s wages.

 These teachers said they are facing great difficulty as a result of not being paid.

 Further the teachers complain that the zonal education offices had
also notified them to resubmit copies of their education certificates.

 According to the Secretary of the Lanka Teachers Association, Joseph Stalin, due to this predicament faced by the teachers, children’s education is hampered.

 Meanwhile, when we contacted the State Education Minister about this issue, its Secretary Tissa Hewawithana said they were unaware of such an issue.

 But, he said measures would be taken to inquire into this matter.
