Oil, gas auction centre in Colombo port city

Following the completion of work on the Colombo port city, the government will consider opening an oil and gas auction centre there just like in Dubai, said megapolis minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.

Dubai does not produce oil, but it is home to the region’s gas
auction centre.

During an inspection tour of the project on October 25, Ranawaka also said the city would have schools, hospitals and housing complexes too.

Half of the land filling activities is now over, he said, adding that the 269-hectare city would have 91 hectares for common facilities, while 62 hectares would be owned by the Sri Lankan government and 116 hectares by the Chinese investor.
