Decision to raise fuel prices has not been made – Arjuna

Minister of Petroleum Resource Development Arjuna Ranatunga stated that the government has not made a decision to raise fuel prices within the country.

The Minister of Petroleum Resource Development made this statement while responding to a question that was raised during parliamentary sessions today (9).

“The fuel prices within Sri Lanka cannot be raised according to the
current situation. The government is yet to make a decision with regards to this matter. Discussions with regards to the fuel prices have been held for the past few years. The losses incurred through providing relief to the public will be briefed in due course” he said.

Minister Ranatunga further stated that there are no plans to privatize the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and that the government is taking several steps to strengthen to CPC and its employees.
