House in uproar over expressway exposure!

Parliament was in uproar yesterday (19) over an exposure at a media briefing by JVP’s Sunil Handunnetti about an alleged fraud in the construction of expressways.

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, highways minister
Lakshman Kiriella as well as Ashu Marasinghe and Nalin Bandara strongly criticized the JVP MP.

Party leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake came to Handunnetti’s defence, accusing the government of protecting thieves instead of preventing fraud.

He said Marasinghe was a professor who protects thieves.
