Arbitrator to settle Suriyawewa stadium payments!

An arbitrator has been appointed to deal with a demand by a Chinese company for Rs. five billion for the construction of the Suriyawewa stadium during the previous regime, ‘Dinamina’ reports.

The government attempts to prevent the Ports Authority from being
taken to an international court over the non-payment of dues to the constructor during the former government.

The stadium is a deviant of the Hambantota port and was built using a credit line of several billion rupees.

The SLPA is unable to pay such a huge sum to the Chinese company, although the constructions at the stadium are yet to be fully complete.

The government has to pay a considerable sum for the activities of the arbitration board too.
