‘Women in politics 2017’ report by Inter Parliamentary Union notes Sri Lanka has 47 ministers, followed by 46 in Ghana.
The report gives details of the number of male and female ministers
in 191 countries, with Sri Lanka occupying the 179th position on account of its female MPs.
Excepting Middle Eastern countries, Sri Lanka has the least number of female MPs, which is 13 out of 225, and has only 4.7 per cent of female ministers.
