Water Board questioned over pipeline laying project!

The National Water Board has offered a contract to lay 170 kms of pipelines that will cost Rs. 500 million more than the estimated expenditure, reports say.

The Auditor General’s Department has asked for explanations from
the Board as to why Rs. 25 million had been allotted to set up a project office for this.

An audit report also says a house had been rented at a monthly rental of Rs. 30,000 despite Rs. 12.2 million has been set aside to set up a mobile office.

It also reveals that 2,335 cubic feet of granite rocks had been removed at a cost of Rs. 25 million to lay the pipelines, although that had not been credited as state revenue.
