The Army chief said that as far as he knew, a war crimes complaint had been lodged against Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya as he completed his diplomatic posting.
Senanayake said that he never complained about the injustices he had undergone when Jayasuriya was the commander.
He said the Army expressed its displeasure over the remark made by Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka about the Army.
The Army did not sacrifice around 28,000 of its men and double that number suffered injuries or became disabled to hear such criticisms, Senanayake said.
The highly-reputed Army never violated human rights violations, he said, adding the Army had a high regard for Fonseka not because he was a politician now, but because of the great service he had rendered to the Army.
JHU media spokesman Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said trading accusations over personal rivalries was harmful both to the country and the Army.
Stressing that he strongly disapproved of such accusations, Warnasinghe added that his party rejected the war crime allegations against former Army chiefs.
