The SLFP has sent its final set of proposals with regard to the new constitution to president Maithripala Sirisena.
The party committee on constitutional formulation has not mentioned anything precise on the executive presidency.
Instead, it has said that it would be up to the president to take a
decision on that account.
The proposals contain the SLFP’s views with regard the electoral system, devolution of powers etc, say party sources.
All parties are required to handover their proposals to the constitutional steering committee by August 31, after with the final constitutional draft will be formulated, committee chairman, prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said.
The UNP is yet to handover its proposals.
