Rajitha should be protected - Ravi

The no-confidence motion by the joint opposition against minister Rajitha Senaratne should be defeated with a two-third majority and the confidence in him should be established, said MP Ravi Karunanayake.

Karunanayake was speaking to the media at the Government
Information Department yesterday (25) together with a group of UNP backbenchers, ‘Lankadeepa’ reports.

Karunanayake asked if a no-confidence motion was moved against the health minister for having reduced the prices of medicines by 85 to 90 per cent, or for having rendered many other services to the country.

The JO also says it will be brought to oppose the privatization of higher education, he said.

The no-confidence motion has been planned by MPs Dinesh Gunawardena and Udaya Gammanpila, persons who have faked signatures in sworn affidavits, Karunanayake pointed out.

These are being done at a time when the country needs to go forward after 11 years of ruin and theft.

Senaratne is a person who was in the forefront to form this government and is outspoken too, he said.

Some in the JO are involved in this conspiracy, which will be rejected and defeated with a two-third majority, Karunanayake added.
