A Sinhala, Buddhist common candidate at 2020 polls!

A Sinhala, Buddhist common candidate will be fielded at the presidential election in 2020, say Bodu Bala Sena and Sihala Ravaya.

Activist of the two organizations Ven. Magalkande Sudatte Thera made the announcement at a media briefing at the BBS office at
Rajagiriya yesterday (22).

He alleged that despite the government having a president and a prime minister, its cabinet was an undecided lot that gives into pressure by NGOs.

Justice and Buddha Sasana minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe is an intellectual, a person who works to protect the country’s resources and wants the judiciary to be independent, he said.

He should continue in his ministerial position, he stressed.

Wijedasa deceived by the offer

Meanwhile, MP Nalin Bandara says Rajapakshe has been deceived by a so-called offer by the joint opposition and Sinhala extremist groups that he would be made the common candidate at the 2020 presidential election.

It is very damaging if one’s house is occupied by the enemy’s friend, he said, adding that it can be managed if that person leaves and started attacking.

However, no one can be allowed to remain in the government and criticize it, Bandara said, adding that it was due to that reason that they demanded the removal of Rajapakshe.
