Why is Malinga being overlooked by Labrooy?

Sri Lanka’s star pacer Lasith Malinga has once again been sidelined by selectors despite proving his fitness and form.

On Feb. 17, chief selector - Graeme Labrooy stated that Malinga has the chance to be selected for the Nidahas trophy if the latter
proves his fitness and form.

Within the first two days of the ‘Club-T20 Tournament’, Malinga proved both. In three matches, he his bowling figures were 4-0-30-2, 4-0-31-3 and 4-0-34-3.

However, he was not picked even in the 20-man preliminary squad.

According to sources, Malinga had pointed-out many shortcomings of SLC during the brain storming session by the Sports Ministry to Revamp Sri Lanka Cricket on Sep. 15, 2017. He is yet to play for Sri Lanka since then.

Sports critics charge that Labrooy has never selected Malinga since taking over as chief selector, but keeps on making statements on the player to mislead cricket fans.
