During the time of the killing of Wickrematunga, DIG Nanayakkara
had been in charge of the Mount Lavinia Police Division.
Police said ex- DIG Nanayakkara was arrested due to alleged concealing of evidence related to the investigation of the former Editor’s murder.
He is to be produced to the Mount Lavinia Magistrates’ courts today.
Earlier, the courts had impounded the passports of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jayantha Wickremaratne, former DIG Nanayakkara and former Senior DIG Hemantha Adhikari following submissions made to the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court by the CID regarding the investigations into the murder case.
