Probe on into calls, SMS messages in Thajudeen’s phone

The CID is investigating the recorded telephone calls and SMS messages in murdered ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen’s mobile phone, Colombo additional magistrate Jeyaram Trotsky was told yesterday (30).

It has so far questioned 10 persons in the investigation that followed
a magisterial order on November 08 to the CID’s digital forensic laboratory to examine and submit a detailed report into the Nokia 7 phone’s records from 01 January 2012 to 03 August 2015.

The mobile phone was recovered on 03 August 2015 from the possession of a person identified as Vardaraja Rajbarati alias Achchi of Bogawantalawa and produced to courts as material evidence on 09 September of the same year.

The CID also informed the court that it was investigating all telephone calls taken on 16 and 17 May 2012, as recorded in transmission towers in Colombo district, and the identities of the suspicious callers are being determined through the relevant state agencies.

Already, several suspicious telephone numbers have been identified, said the CID.

Suspects in the case, former DIG Anura Senanayake, ex-crimes OIC of Narahenpita police Sumith Champika Perera and former Colombo JMO Ananada Samarasekara appeared before the court.

The next hearing will take place on 26 January.
