Keheliya granted bail

Former Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and former State Printing Corporation (SPC) Director General Jayampathy Bandara Heenkenda were today (11), ordered to be released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara.

The charges against Rambukwella was for allegedly causing an
unlawful loss of Rs.230,000 to the government after paying former Minister’s  mobile phone bill using SPC funds.

The case filed by the Bribery Commission was taken up in Court today and former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella were ordered to be released on a surety bail of Rs.500,000  by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara.

Meanwhile, the Bribery Commission had filed 13 other cases against SPC former Director General Jayampathi Bandara Heenkenda  for causing a loss of over Rs.80 million to the government.

He too was ordered to be released on a surety bail of Rs.500,000 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
